February 2016 - Dividends Update

Wednesday, March 02, 2016 3 Comments A+ a-

February is a particularly small dividend month for me. I don't know what it is but the last two months have felt like little progress has been made. It's always good to keep track with these updates however because it forces me look at the numbers in more detail. It's at this point I realize I've somehow managed to pile in almost $3400 worth of new investments into the portfolio in the last month despite being an expensive month overall.

Keep on truckin' ...

Dividends received for February 2016:

Corus Entertainment$9.50
RioCan Real Estate$11.75
Royal Bank$55.30

Purchases this month:
  • Royal Bank - 30 shares @ 71.05 = 2131.50
  • Suncor - 40 shares @ 29.95 = $1198.00
Total amount of new purchases this month: $3329.50

Portfolio Update

The total portfolio is now at: $34,684.51

As of today:

I have received a total of $260.01 in dividends this year. The portfolio will generate about $1618/yr which is $135 per month on average of tax-free income.

Nice work. February is a slow dividend month for most investors. March is a very strong month. I use March as my gauge to where I will end up for the year with dividends.
