November 2015 - Dividend Updates

Saturday, November 28, 2015 3 Comments A+ a-

The total dividends received in November:  $76.55

Honestly I don't blog for any reason other than to keep track of things and to keep myself honest so I'm going to do more of a monthly summary approach for these blog entries going forward. I've been pretty busy with work and it's only going to get crazier as the weeks go on (more incentive to get dividends to cover more expenses and replace my income as much as possible right!)

There are not a lot of companies in my portfolio that pay out dividends this month but here's the breakdown:
Corus Entertainment (CJR.B)$9.50
RioCan Real Estate (REI.UN)$11.75
Royal Bank (RY)$55.30
Total:$76.55

Purchases this month:
  • Bank of Nova Scotia - 20 shares @ 60.39 = $1207.80
  • Canadian Utilities - 20 shares @ 34.15 = $683.00
  • Hydro One - 100 shares @ 21.50 = $2150.00
Total amount of new purchases this month: $4040.80!

What the hell happened?! I never really added the total month up before like this so this kinda surprised me how much it was - lots of overtime and on-call at work adds up. Just hope I can keep the momentum going strong...

Portfolio Update

This year has been the most diligent I've ever been saving/investing in my entire life, it really is about paying yourself first.

The total portfolio at the end of November is now at: $27,476.79

As of today:

I have received a total of $601.58 in dividends this year. The portfolio will generate about $1252/year which is around $104.35 on average per month tax-free income.

Great job continuing to grow your dividend income. Nice to see some Canadian banks paying you and being added to your portfolio. I'm still a fan of those names going into 2016. Thanks for sharing.

Solid dividend income. Best thing is the fact you were able to invest over $4k of fresh capital.
